Ninja Girl Speed Painting!

by Daniel Sun Fri Feb 08, 2013 5:12 am

First speed painting of 2013! I've only recently reinstalled my video capture software - which means I can start doing speed paintings again! To be honest, I've attempted to do a few paintings during the past 2 weeks only to find that I couldn't yield acceptable results. Here is my reasoning: I've been doing lots and lots of thumbnail sketches - Just take a look at the Armed with Wings Facebook page for evidence. After doing so many small sketches, I think I lost my ability to insert detail on bigger pictures. You see smaller sketches only need a few lines or scribbles to illustrate (for example) detailed armour. However a big picture requires proper detailed and definition.
After realizing this I began to draw larger images with careful line work - finally after much practise, I present this:

Yep it's a nice piece of art.

I feel that the colors are just shiny. A good way to start 2013 ehh. Haha keep on going man. Hope to see more of this ninja girl. Infact reminded me of Eivana. :D

Your sketches are awesome, especially the action pose and the face close-up.
But I don't like the shaded&colored final version as much.
I think thats mainly, because the eye looks much "cleaner" in the sketch.
Also the shading and coloring look to serious to match the cartoon-like proportions in my opinion.

As this is my first post here I also have to mention that I really enjoyed a lot of your games and cartoons.
Culmination is pretty awesome. There are small issues, like "walking" up walls by repeating walljumps & attacking to not get pushed away from the wall, but overall it felt really nice and was really fun to play.

Keep up the good work!

Yes, yes, it is - a character from the game or just a sketch?
Ninja?
Nyan.
