Production Blog Entry #3

Basic Combat Demonstration in Culmination
A = attack.
tap A to preform 4 hit combo.
if you slowly tap A, you can preform double slash attacks, very cool.
press Q to force the enemy in the air.
You can juggle the enemy into the air, and continue to strike them without them hitting the ground.
This is called Juggling.

So there are few attacks missing.
The idea is this

tap A normally to get row 1. If in row1, if you hit a slowly, then it goes to row 2. if you hold the keydown in row 1 or row 2, then it goes to row 3.
[attack1] > [attack2] > [attack3] > [attack4]
[attack1] > [attack2] > [attack3] > [attack4]
[attack1] > [attack2] > [attack3] > [attack4]

Row 1 = basic attack
Row 2 = fancy dual attack
Row 3 = power attacks.

NOTE: NO POWER ATTACKS IN THE GAME YET.

Currently the grid looks like this
[attack1] > [attack2] > [attack3] > [attack4]
[attack1] > [attack2]

Give it a go, hope you like the juggling system.
p.s The Juggling System is one of the few new mechanics I've got planned.
p.s DONT GO INTO THE RED SQUARE, IT'LL TAKE YOU TO THE NEXT LEVEL, BUT THERE IS NO NEXT LEVEL.

launching your enemy into the air seems off... mabye this should have been implemented for another character but other than that.... this should be GOOD, i wasnt expecting such a high quality 'lone warrior' and wasnt even really thinking about the the little minion guys, but the launch your opponent into the air thing...

but hey your in control here this is just one man's opinion

p.s.: can't wait for the new soundtrack!!!!!!!!!!!! :o

-sigh- that button is only here for this test, won't be an actual attack in the real game, last time i checked, LW didn't have Telekinesis....

This probably isn't the part you were showing off but that enemy looks FREAKING SICK!

Oh, the combats good too (It's a little hard to follow and seems like it will take a bit more skill to master) I like it personally.

I have no complaints about it.
Well, he had already made his decision.
No matter how Culmination this game had developed, I will stilll enjoy it.

Personally, I don't really care about Lone Warrior's attack.
:lol: The attacks look like some sort of decorations to me. :lol:
Beat the enemies. Watch the cutscene. Get the boss. Watch the ending. That's all.
Unless there are multi-endings.................

I will mainly focus on Culmination's plot.

Well I really thaught it trough and Juggle is a bad idea.

Why? If it uses energy (probably will) then there are two options.

1.: Very energy consuming ability, wich makes it pointless to use, since it does no damage and it's only good for interrupting attacks, seems pointless, it will only delay them for a short time but it could still save your ass in survival mode, but there will be only a few times when it will really benefit you. And the lack of animation is a problem too: Lone Warrior does nothin and the enemies get tossed around?

2.: It consumes little energy, or none. Even worse. It will mean that you can knock down every foe around you again and again, so the game won't be challenging anymore. It will become so easy even a monkey could beat survival mode, you just teach it to press q the a then q then a .......


However the attacks look sweet. And it seems like you will be able to perform a variety of combos. If all goes well.

And finally some questions:

Will there be mellee combos, like in AwW 2 and AwW 3?

What about the controls?

What about the specials?

Pressing Q isn't an attack, it won't be in the game.

Only reason I added the Q button is so you could try juggling the enemy. In the final game, there will simply be a few different uppercut attacks.

First of all, Lone Warrior is my favourite character, so thanks for making another game with him as main one :) Actually, I joined this forum when I saw you're making Culmination :D

The idea of throwing the enemy in the air is nice. But can we jump cut it? That would be awesome :D

And I wanted to add something about Lone Warrior's design. I mean 2 things which I noticed: first, holding a sword pointing up is a bit uncomfortable (especially while running) and second, right and left side view animations are the same, so when he goes left it looks like he's using sword with his left hand. But it's just me, you can ignore it :) I know it's probably lots of work :D

A lot of people have been treating the throw the enemy into the air thing as the preview of an ability, I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure he just threw it in to help show off the whole juggling effect, I don't think it's actually going to be an ability.

I think you should make jumping be controled by the space bar or something so that when you jump you can choose to either uppercut somebody and juggle or smash them into the ground...

No offense, but using the spacebar as the jump button would ruin the entire game...

Well I wouldn't say it would ruin it, but it's much more comfortable to jump with the up arrow.

I don't know if that was about my post too, but I was talking about something like cutting the enemy up (so he's thrown) and finishing him by jumping and cutting in the air.

I said space bar as an example... I was trying to say that it would be cool if you could control the direction that you slash.
