Aw come on, Mikoto, i've seen some drawings you have posted that looked like manga to me. I think you should give it a shot :)
And this book, what is it called? Is it written in English?
And here is another drawing. The Undertaker from Kuroshitsuji. Im really happy with this one, but what do you guys think could be better?

Long time no see. I'm on so many forums I forget to log on them xD

@Crimson Thorn: First thing you have to work on is the heads. I mean they should be more vertical ellipse than round. And the eyes should be somewhere in the middle. I struggled with that a lot (and still do a bit), so I know how it feels. General anatomy and stuff looks good.
I like the phoenix too but you could add more flames.

@Mikoto: Interesting art, often creepy but good.

If you want to see some of my art, you can check out my deviantART (link in the sig)

Actually, maybe it would be a good idea to make a topic where we would give feedback on each other's art? I mean I know I can be pretty harsh but if there would be such thread, you'd post your works there kinda on your own responsibility :P

Ahaha, Mikoto, I think your friend has the right idea, everyone knows the Undertaker looks better with his bangs pushed back lol :)
And, well, I can not read anything but English, so I guess this book I cannot read. I think your art is not stolen, but similar, which can be a good thing haha.

@16thSS, well, I know that my heads are not that good. Sometimes I think I get them just perfect, but most of the time not... And hey, if you want it, go and make that thread! I know I would post in it lol

And oh yeah, I noticed from your DA that you are involved with making a manga, which is super cool! I kinda have an idea for one myself, but realistically, my art needs at least a year to get better lol. So for now take a look at some concept characters :)

I have few projects but I know I'm still bad xD Nowhere near making actual manga (like miya-cchi's for example). I have lots of ideas but usually don't have time for drawing.

As promised, a self-portrait of me. Sorry for the delay, I've been stacked with assignments to complete and never found the time to start it. I actually did this in quite a rush. My apologies if it's a bit too blurry to make out. I've finally been able to find myself some time to draw so I can be sure to have more by tomorrow the latest.

Image

Again, blurry so I had to adjust the brightness so you can make out the art. I'll be sure to ink my next work so it will be easier to see.

Looks interesting. And the quality is good enough, I've colored that kind of picture xD

It actually makes me feel like making a self-portrait out of some of my photos...

Thanks Sanseki! I'd also like to see your self portrait. I have yet actually seen some of your artwork by pencil and I'm sure it will be quite promising. I don't take the time to color in my drawings as I lack the necessary tools to do so. I've started using alcohol based markers, but I can't be sure of my results. Here's a work that I made when I tried to use the markers:

Nice Mikoto. With your artwork as it is now, I would say that you don't even need a tablet. It looks good as it is now. While I'm sure that using a tablet can help greatly, it takes a while to get accustomed to it. Overall, great job, I hope my info helped :D

@16thSS, I hope one day to have professional quality art, so I force myself to practice and make time, even though I dont always want to XD.
@Kesani, like the self portrait, but I see no pupils in your eyes... Do you not have a soul? Lol jk jk :) Colored looks really great. Can I ask, what markers and paper are you using? I just got some copic ciao markers, and i'm just wondering how much I overpaid lol.... And thick cardstock usually brings better and more consistent results(if you didn't already know haha)
@Mikoto, nice art, as always :) a tablet may not make your art better, but it will most likely make it much faster and easier. They're pretty easy to use once you get used to them.

And oh yeah, here's my art now haha

A huge pile of envy. I've never painted with watercolors.
Damn!
Or is it not watercolor? _?

Not watercolor? Strange. Try to paint in watercolor, I think you will like it! If you're lucky))) pens? PROFESSIONAL mangaka. I am very, very rarely paint watercolors. I recently painted. And spoil all, as usual)))
And a couple of curves, oblique sketches. Please tell us about all the shortcomings, and then I'm blind -_-

I am very late with this response and I apologize for that lol. I have been cramming for exams and all of my free time has slipped away without me knowing. It's vacation time for me so I think I'll be able to be here more frequently. I don't have a soul, give me your's XD. At times I can be quite the detached person and tend to make that expression, especially when I think. You do not know how envious I am hearing that you have copic markers. I want some so badly but can't afford to get them at the moment. Looking at your works, it seems that it is definitely worth it. I'm using Potentate Alcohol Base Markers (no idea where they sell it, someone else got it for me lol). As for the paper, it was from an A3 Guoli Sketchbook. I colored outside the flames to try and give the look of a blazing aura but I seriously messed up. I'll be posting more sooner or later and hope to get some advice lol. It's been quite a while since I've picked up the pencil for drawing. As always, great work on your artwork guys, looking forward for more.

I'm glad to finally see you here, Kesani! I also had exams, the results are already known. And like your results? And in general, what were the exams? You learn in school? _?
I also want to try to draw with markers, but I have very little paper: (((
Somebody painted in "SAI"? How's it going?
A watercolor? Does anyone here have a watercolor paintings?
A gouache? My gouache spoiled: D So long ago it did not draw.
Kesani, you pass an oral examination? _? Ahaha I'll get all these fucking exams
In short we need to improve the quality of drawings

Thanks Mikoto. I got my results for my finals and other examinations already. They're pretty basic subjects, geometry, global, living environment, etc. I do have watercolor paints but I rarely use them as the colors aren't very diverse. They were a gift from a teacher after completing an after school course for art. Of course, we weren't taught how to use them in a professional manner so they have been sitting in my desk for over 3 years now lol. I don't have any oral examinations this year, I only took one last year for my foreign language. And yes, we do need to improve the quality lol. For us, there are no limits to our drawings. Look at drawings that you guys drew about a year ago, do you notice a big change? I'd be very interested in seeing the differences.

Ahaha Kesani, I think I will keep my soul, thank you! I understand the detached look, I feel like I often look somewhat like that myself lol. And yeah, I would say the main benefit of copic markers is that they have brush tips, which allow you to put color down in much lighter layers than otherwise. One of the keys to coloring (I think) is knowing when and where to not color, and when to stop. That's why copics are nice with the brush and all. Mikoto: yes, very many roses. It seriously took my almost 4 hours to ink and color the roses alone, and was very tedious. I just got a set of watercolor paints as a gift, so I will see if I can make anything with those, for you haha.
And now a question for you guys. As you can see below, I'm working on a new draw. I needed the wings to be dark grey/black, but the only grey copic I have is a very light one that will not blend with the black, without some shades in between. So I made the rather stupid decision of using cheap, crayola type markers to do the wing, and, in my opinion completely ruined it. Should I accept defeat and throw this one out, or should I try and finish it?

@ Kesani: Did you go to art school? And how many years? And what you learned there? _? Friends advised me also enroll in an art school ...
@ Crimson Thorn: Definitely need to finish! Personally, I do no flaws in the paint do not see. And if there is, in the course of drawing it can somehow fix!
And I practice to draw portraits in pencil.

@Crimson, you must finish. I don't know why, but the crayola markers give a better effect than normally coloring it would. I say finish! It's a waste when you leave it unfinished lol. You don't get to see the full potential you could draw out from it.
@Mikoto, I didn't go to an art school. What I was referring to was more of an extracurricular activity which I took part in. I learned things which I think I could have figured out on my own for painting. It was mostly just stuff on shading and bringing things to life-like images. I expect to churn out a drawing to post by tomorrow, so look forward to it guys.

Welp, I'm back again aaaand... I haven't drawn anything new since March x.x Or rather I should say I haven't published anything since then. I have few random drawings, I'm thinking about uploading them but I dunno.

And I think I'll get myself a tablet soon, maybe I'll publish more then. 'cause the problem is it takes too much time to transfer traditional to digital and people don't seem to like my traditional doodles too much xD Also, I'm bad at coloring traditionally, at shading too >.>

Great works, Mikoto o.o And you're improving, Crimson. You should still work on the heads I guess but it's better ^^

P.S. I need to get myself a new set lol this account is so neglected
